This, to me, is your most poignant post so far. Without knowing a word for it, I thought about _aware_ while watching that pickup truck being engulfed by the incoming tide. And I’m reminded of the Tibetan Buddhist monks’ mandala sand paintings, which are always destroyed after completion.

I would never side with either character, as I despise the series. But allow me to retort, that I do fully agree with team Jacob. The beauty in life is in its finitude. The Japanese, being many things including poets but the so called ‘truth of life’ perfectly. It’s sad it has to end, but to ever appreciate anything you must realize it will be lost. So let me finish this with a line from Bushido I have taken to heart.
“Die a little every day. When the day finally comes for you to die, you will be without fear, or regret.”
